

Johnnie was a 1950 graduate of Dacula High School and was named Wittiest by her classmates. Johnnie was a member of Hebron Christian Church in Winder where she enjoyed being a part of the Young At Heart group, cooking for Vacation Bible School, and was actively involved in church functions. She worked and retired from Kroger in Athens after 25 years. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, singing and her family. She was especially proud of her daughter, grandkids, and great-grands. She enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends and meeting for breakfast with old friends at McDonald's as a special treat.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, William "Ed" Cox. She was also predeceased by her siblings: Clarence (Annie John) Peevy, Azalee Memphis (Clarence) Boss, Ruth (Bennie) Higgins, Grace (Junior) Jordan, and Blanche (Paul) Knight.
She is survived by her daughter, June (Bunk) Royals; grandchildren: Brett (Charissa) Sims of Lexington and Megan (Brian) Ingram of Statham; great-grandchildren: Levi Sims, Jax Sims, Brody Whitehead, Bo Whitehead, Arria Ingram, Hollis Ingram; her brother and best friend, Raburn (Joy) Peevy and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm in Smith Memory Chapel with the burial to follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
