Mrs. Karene Healan Swafford

Smith Funeral Home announces the death of Karene Healan Swafford, age 85 of Winder. She was a member of Winder First Baptist Church and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She taught english as a second langauge for the church. She was a tax aide and regional director for AARP. She retired from Eastmon Kodak as a personnel director.She was preceded in death by her husband the late Henry "Ross" Swafford. Her parents the late Mr and Mrs Frank and Ethel Shedd Healan. Three brothers, Glenn, Jake and Doyle Healan. Four sisters, Bee Dunlap, Mozelle Shepard, Lois Crafton and Faye Million. She is survived by two daughters and two son-in-laws, Lynne and Randy Blackstock of Cleveland. Kay and Gary Kesler of Gainesville. One Brother, Carl Healan of Chesapeake, VA. Two sisters, Jean Thomason of Nashville, TN and Joy McDaniel of Bethlehem. Four grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law's, Lisa and Mike Woodside, Shane and Crystal Blackstock, Seth and Linda Blackstock and Caleb Blackstock. Three Great Grandchildren, Corbin Boyd, Lindsey and Madison Blackstock. Several nieces and nephews survive. Visitation will be held Thursday June 21, 2012 from 4 until 9 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday June 22, 2012 at Winder First Baptist Church with Dr. John Talley Officiating. Interment will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
