Lamar Battles, age 80 of Auburn, GA, passed on September 28, 2026. He was born in Alabama City, AL, to the late Bert Lee and Mary Lou Battles. He had been living in Auburn for the past 46 years. Lamar was an electrician who owned Battles Electric for 40 years. Prior to that, Lamar had been in electrical maintenance at Johnson & Johnson in Athens, GA. He was proud to be a Master Mason and was a member of the Auburn Mason Lodge 204 and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was also a Yaarab Shriner. Lamar was a member of Union Grove Baptist in Auburn, GA. He loved gardening and liked getting everyone else to help him. He enjoyed fishing and he always had lots of pet dogs.
In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by eight of his siblings: Earnestine Battles, Marie Battles Spears, Virginia Battles Harcrow, Dorothy Battles White, Kathy Battles Schaefer, Alfred Eugene Barrett, Arthur Lee Battles, and Jimmy Dale Battles. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gail Casper Battles, and two brothers: David Battles and Terry (Joyce) Battles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a Visitation for family and friends at Smith Funeral Home, on Friday, October 2, 2026 from noon until 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 pm in Smith Memory Chapel.
