Mary Porter Doty, age 95 of Winder, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017. Mary retired as a seamstress for National Casket Company and was an avid bingo player. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howell Roscoe and Rosa Lyndall Wellborn Porter; her husband, William Doty; three brothers, Tommy, Jimmy and Buddy Porter and a sister, Rachel Higgins. She is survived by three sons, Joseph Garland Doster (Jean) of College Park, Ben Doster of Norris Lake and Bill Doster (Betty) of Gainesville and two sisters, Thelma Laney and Pat Mays both of Winder. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Donations may be made to The Winder Lions Club Bingo Fund in Mary’s memory.
