Passed away on December 8, 2023 at the age of 92. Born September 26, 1931 in Aliquippa, PA to Carmine and Eufemia (Carapellotti) Sonsino and resided in West Aliquippa, PA for more than 60 years. She was a graduate of Aliquippa High School before beginning a career at Mellon Bank where she advanced from a teller to the lead Mortgage and Loan Officer. She decided to change careers when she married Pete Gaudino, Jr. on May 14,1960 and become a housewife and mother. In this role she raised only one child but stayed very busy as a member of The Christian Mothers of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in West Aliquippa along with volunteering at Mount Gallitzen Academy in Baden. She enjoyed traveling in her free time, taking two road trips across the country lasting over six weeks each, a trip to Hawaii, countless trips to Las Vegas, Nevada, Niagara Falls, Canada, the New Jersey coast, central Florida, visiting family in Italy, Australia (with a short stop in Tahiti), and Auburn, Georgia where she and Pete decided to move to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
In her new home she stayed active in Saint Matthew Catholic Church, joined a local senior group called the OWLS and worked in the nursery at the local YMCA. This wasn’t enough so she became one of the neighborhood's surrogate grandparents affectionately known as “Grandma Dino”, opening her doors and heart to the children as though they were her own. As she grew older her traveling slowed down, but she would light up as she spoke of the places that she visited and the opportunities that she was able to participate in and still enjoyed the occasional car ride just to look at the scenery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her brother Tony Sonsino his wife Carol, her sister-in-law Delores Gaudino, her son Pete and daughter-in-law Nancy (Harvan), her granddaughter Sara (Gaudino) Razey and husband Chad and their two children Hayden and Zeke, her grandson Michael and his wife Kirsten (Harper) along with nieces and nephews. Mary had countless friends, many of whom were like family and those close relationships lasted for decades.
Arrangements will be made by Smith Memorial Chapel in Winder
Visitation will be held on Monday December 11, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
