Mayford Earl Goins Sr., age 85 of Winder, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was a native of Knoxville, TN. He was a member of New Pentecost United Methodist Church. Mayford retired as an appliance technician and served his country during the Korean War as a Gunners Mate in the US Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Edgemond and Eliza Carroll Goins; his wife, Martha Jean Boyd Goins; a son, Earl Goins Jr and two sisters, Ruby Dickens and Juanita Jones. He is survived by four sons, Jeff Goins of Nicholson, Joe Goins of Lawrenceville, John Everett of Savannah and Jim Bible of Newnan; three daughters, Sandy Anderson of Nicholson, Pat Plumlee of Knoxville and Jennifer Goins of Newnan. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 6 until 8PM at Smith Funeral Home, Winder, GA. Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Friday, October 23, 2015 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
