Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Michael lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, friendship, and a passion for the things he loved. His travels took him around the world, creating a lifetime of experiences, memories, and friendships along the way. After a
distinguished career in aviation, he settled into retirement in Macon, Georgia. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain.
Following his military service, he continued his lifelong passion for aviation as a commercial airline pilot with FedEx, where he flew the Boeing 777 and ultimately retired as a Captain. For Michael, flying was never simply a profession; it was a calling and a passion that defined much of his life. His years in the skies took him to countless places around the world, but it was the people he met along the way who made the journey truly special.
Outside the cockpit, Michael had a deep appreciation for music, photography, and cars. Whether enjoying his favorite music, capturing moments through the lens of a camera, or sharing his enthusiasm for automobiles, he embraced the things that brought him happiness. As accomplished as Michael was in his professional life, those who knew him best will tell you that his greatest quality was his ability to connect with people. Michael was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. He possessed a natural warmth and an outgoing spirit that could make anyone feel like an old friend within minutes of meeting him. He genuinely enjoyed people, valued friendship, and had a way of making those
around him feel welcome and appreciated. To know Michael was to have a friend, and to call him a friend was to have one of the very
best. His kindness, generosity of friendship, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
Above all, Michael will be remembered not only for the extraordinary life he lived, but for the countless lives he touched along the way. His legacy is found in the friendships he
built, the memories he created, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Though his passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fully express, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Gordon Clemons and Cecil Bealer Russell Clemons.
He is survived by his sons, Charlie Clemons and his wife, Tonya, and Russell Clemons and his wife, Samantha; his beloved grandchildren, Aidan Clemons and Chloe Clemons; and his siblings: Steve Musser and his wife, Judy, Susannah Russell Kalei Shultis, and Joseph Gordon Clemons III and his wife, Liz.
He also leaves behind extended family members and a lifetime of dear friends whose lives were made richer by knowing him.
Michael lived a life that many could only dream of, traveling the world, following his passions, and forming friendships wherever life took him. But his greatest legacy will never be measured by the miles he flew or the places he visited. It will be measured by
the people he loved, the friendships he cherished, and the memories he leaves behind.
Though Michael has taken his final flight, the impact of his life and the love he shared will remain with us forever. His journey may have ended, but his memory will always soar.
