Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late James Wiley and Juliet Bracewell Saunders. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church. Mrs. Maughon was preceded in death by her husband, Howell Samuel (Jake) Maughon; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include a son, Kerry (Cherry) Maughon, Winder; daughters, Pat (Donald) McKay Jr., Columbus, and Kay (Randall) Wages, Bethlehem; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Josephine Moon, Winder, and Caroline Wallace, Seagrove Beach, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, at 2 p.m. from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Tim Aaron officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.
