Patricia Jean Driskell, age 89 of Winder, entered into the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Patricia was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a degree in Theology. In 1975, Patricia and her husband moved to Winder from Trinidad in the West Indies where they had served as missionaries in the Caribbean Islands for nine years. After moving to Winder, they founded Hope Christian Academy, the first Christian School in Barrow County. They were also the founders of Collins Hill Christian Academy in Lawrenceville where Patricia taught reading, phonics,and math. Patricia, and her husband Billy, were members of Hope Baptist Church in Winder.
Patricia was born in Miami, FL, to the late Stella and Albert Scales. In addition to her parents, Patricia is predeceased by her son, Timothy Driskell who passed away in 2003; her brother, James Scales of Wedowee, AL; and sisters: Joyce Hightower of Winder, Stella Krause of Pottstown, PA, Alleen Banister of Franklin, GA, and Peggy Lee Scales of Homestead, FL. She is survived by her faithful and loving husband of 71 years, Billy Driskell; her children: Kimberly (Les) Edwards of Okeechobee, FL and John (Julie) Kiefrider of Oklahoma; brother, Albert (Faye) Scales of Hiram, GA; sisters: Brenda Wagner of Winder and Linda (Gary) Carlisle of Commerce; grandchildren: Jordan (Sarah) Driskell of Abilene, TX and Jonathan Hardigree of Winder; great-grandchild, Violet Driskell of Abilene, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA. The Funeral Service will be held in Smith Memory Chapel on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00 pm, with the burial to follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
