Robert G. Whitaker

Robert G. Whitaker, age 66 of Winder, GA, passed away on August 20, 2026. He was born in Ada, OH, and over the years lived in other parts of the country including five years in California before moving to Georgia nine years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lawrenceville. He had a long career in the pipeline business before furthering his education at 50 then working in healthcare as an EEG technician until retiring at the age of 60. He was a very generous person whose priority was spending time with family. When not working, he was a talented woodworker who loved making gifts for friends and family. He loved being outdoors, gardening, and playing golf.

Robert is survived by wife of over forty-two years, Rene; parents, Donald Whitaker and DeAnna Staley Whitaker Bresler; children: Michelle (Joshua) Becker, Caleb (Brandi) Whitaker, Eric Whitaker, AJ (Madison) Whitaker, and Desirae Whitaker; brother, Ern Whitaker; sister, Donna (Randy) Hanna; three grandchildren: Alisa, Joseph, and Aurora; parents-in-law: Loren and Doris Hueter; sister-in-law: Janeen Holmstrom; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Smith Funeral Home. After the Visitation there will be a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:30 am.
