Shirley went to her final resting place last Friday evening, passing at home in the warm embrace of her family. She was born in Winder, Georgia to the late John Luther and Effie Rutledge Patrick. Shirley resided a number of years in Savannah, taking care of her mother who lived to the age of 94. Shirley spent her last 32 years in Conyers, Georgia, and at the age of 86 was the last living of her nine siblings: Grace, Harold, Paul, Hugh, Nell, Kitty, Ben, and Ken. A formidable business woman, Shirl retired at age 65 from a long, decorated career in Human Resources and Risk Management. She enjoyed decades with her furry children: Misty, Rocky, Riley, and Patty Ann while tending her home... life to perfection.
Shirley leaves behind her dear friends Debbie Connell and Charlie Martin, along with her precious dog, Piper, and an expanse of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched. Shirley's unbending wit, her devotion to family, and her insatiable dedication to the Georgia Bulldogs, was rivaled ONLY by her faith in "the good Lord", who she spoke of often. Her love lessons will always run deep through her loved ones. Rest in peace, sweet Aunt Shirl... see you down river.
