Virginia C. Bentley

Virginia C. Bentley, age 92, of Winder, GA, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013. Before moving to Winder Mrs. Bentley was a president of the Women’s Auxiliary of American Legion Post #222 and worked in the VA Hospital in Thomasville, GA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winder where she enjoyed playing the piano. Mrs. Bentley was a Para-pro at Winder Barrow Elementary School, which later became Kennedy Elementary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Harry Bentley; her grandson, Shane Allen Kokaly; her parents, John Oscar and Eunice Culpepper; and her brothers, Keith and John “Cotton” Culpepper. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Elaine Bentley of Tucson, AZ, David Bentley of Winder, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gail and Bill Kokaly of Gainesville, GA; grandchildren, Jeff and Tim Bentley, Travis Wilder, Valerie and Phillip Kokaly; great-grandchildren, Donivan, Jordan, Carson and Kendall Kokaly, Brandon and Oliver Bentley; niece, Eunice Vining; and nephews, Charles and Ernie Culpepper. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Smith Funeral Home, Winder. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Pastor John Talley officiating. The burial will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens, Winder. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Winder. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
