

W.L. Stinchcomb, age 95 of Bogart, Georgia, passed on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. He was a member of Midway Christian Church. W.L. retired from the United States Army after 21 years of service, where he achieved the rank of First Sergeant. As an Army Ranger he served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, where he received the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters and the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters and many other awards for his heroic service to his country. After his service in the Army, W.L. became an electrician until his retirement. He was a member of Davidson Lodge 103, Scottish Rite, Yaarab Shrine, Athens VFW post 2872, and Statham American Legion. W.L. loved NASCAR and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Shela Bryan of Hull, GA; brother Tommy (Sue) Stinchcomb of Winder, GA; grandchildren: William Stinchcomb, Matt and Chris Croxton; great grandchildren; Blair Reed, Dalton Jackson, Chloe Croxton and Maddie Croxton.
W.L. is predeceased by his parents, Jilley and Essie Stinchcomb; his loving wife, Runette Holman Stinchcomb; sons, Ronald Stinchcomb and Kenneth Stinchcomb; daughter, Connie Davis; brothers: Randolph Stinchcomb, Robert Stinchcomb, Gene Stinchcomb, Avery Stinchcomb, Jr. “June Bug”, and Joe Allen Stinchcomb; sisters: Runell Pursley, Lona Mae Sanders, Martha Bell Garrett, and Helen Ruth Collins; and grandchildren, Misty Reed and Thomas Davis.
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 755 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia 30680, on September 13, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Smith Memory Chapel, on September 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
Burial will be at Barrow Memorial Gardens, 793 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, Georgia, on September 14, 2026.
