

Whitaker, David Dale Born in Montreat, N.C. on July 18, 1943 and died suddenly at his home on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the age of 68. He will be deeply mourned by his loving wife Joyce, his son Stephan (Ely) Whitaker, daughter Monica (T.J.) DeMartino, Step-daughter Amanda White and Stepson Marc Rosevear. Grandpa will always be remembered by his grandchildren Anderson Whitaker, Josh Rosevear, Laura White, Joshua, Naomi and Judah Rosevear. Also survived by his sisters Ann, Rosa, Alice and Katherine as well as many nieces and nephews. David was a Veteran of the United States Airforce. After moving to Windsor he became a member and a board member of the Windsor Folk Society as well as an active board member of the former Windsor Men’s Press Club. David retired from the Windsor Star after which he was able to dedicate more time to his song writing and composing, showing his deep passion for the Piedmont Blues. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the Renal Satellite Clinic of Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital, the care worker from Revera and the nurse from St. Elizabeth Healthcare for all your care and support. David’s family will great friends at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home (1969 Wyandotte St. East, Windsor 519-252-5711) on Sunday, January 1, 2012 from 7-9pm and Monday, January 2, 2012 from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00am in the Funeral Home Chapel.
