Dennis Andrew Gibel

February 23, 1952October 27, 2020

We are so sad to announce the peaceful passing of our cherished son, brother, uncle and friend, Dennis Andrew Gibel.

Dennis passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Heron Terrace, his home away from home, surrounded by family. He graced this earth for 68 years with his happy, optimistic and outgoing personality. Born February 23, 1952, to Joseph and Ruby Gibel in Windsor. Dennis had a wonderful life, despite having significant challenges due to Cerebral Palsy. Mom and Dad were determined he would enjoy life to the fullest. He grew up in a happy home with his parents, 2 brothers, David and Mitch, and his grandma Gibel. Dennis loved his family, listening to music, watching tv, swimming, boating, playing in dad’s garage and long car rides in the country. Sweet brother-in-law of Elaine Gibel and loving uncle of David, Justin, Joe, Julia Gibel and Jane (Brian) Johnson. Great uncle to Carter, whose birthday was one day apart from Dennis’. Cousins, Darlene, Pam and George in Michigan, also miss him. We will forever cherish our time together and miss his spirit and smile that could light up a room.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that in his memory, you perform a random act of kindness. If you so wish, donations may be made to The Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy. Thank you to the staff at Heron Terrace for the care they provided over the years. Also, a special thank you to Mike and Patricia Angelini for their friendship.

We will miss you so much! Give mom and dad a big hug from all of us.

When I would visit my aunt Ada Lynch at Heron Terrace, Dennis could always bring a smile to your face. A bad day would disappear because he would greet you with his sunshine. He will be greatly missed there, he was truly a sunshine ambassador. So sorry for the families great loss. God Bless , Cathy Davidson

Dennis, it was a pleasure taking care of you at Heron Terrace, as well, as your mother Ruby. You were gentle as a lamb but could be a tease at times which made you more fun to be around! I pray your heavenly journey is peaceful where you will be reunited with your loving mom. Rest In Peace, sweet man.

Our Dennis..Heron Terrace won't be the same without his presence as he navigated his way around in his chair. I will remember Dennis for his mischievous grin, his determination and his obvious interest in things technical. Now he is free from the hindrances of his physical body. To his family, please be assured of my thoughts and prayers as you adjust to life without Dennis. May God bless you.

I can still picture the memory over 50 years ago when I first met Dennis. To be honest I was a little scared having never encountered a person with a handicap.
During the years following and my friendship with the Gibel family my love and appreciation for Dennis grew and I did all that I could to be a part of his life.
He will be in my thoughts for a long time and will be missed by all that knew him. Rest in peace Dennis.
