Forbes Donald Martin

Predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Mary Black Martin (nee Carruthers ).

Forbes was born in Windsor, Jan. 4, 1932. Predeceased by his parents, Ruth and James Martin and Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law , George and Winnifred Carruthers. Dear Brother to the late Richard Allan Martin.

Forbes took great pride in hosting the Martin Family Events-as the devoted and attentive Husband to his wife Mary and Dear Father to their Seven Children – Pam (Guy) Perreault, Susan (David) Sellick, Mary-Jo (Peter) Kennette, James (Marina) Martin, Margaret (John) Martin-Heaton, Bruce (Gail) Martin and Beth (Jean) Martin. Beloved grandfather to -Tineale, Casey, Michael, Alastair, Andrew, Zoe, Beth, Spencer, Alexandra, Tessa, Maya and Shep and great grandfather to Ruby, Molly and Quinn. Dear Uncle to Stephanie (Dick) Bertelle & John (Mary-Lou) Carruthers & Step-Grandfather to Paul, Nicole, Joelle, Zach, Hal and Great Step-Grandfather to Connor.

Early in life Forbes worked at Chryslers and London Life until obtaining fulltime work at Champion Spark Plugs in Windsor, eventually holding several key Human Resource Positions. In his personal life, Forbes was a passionate builder, landscaper and traveler and later; artist and writer, who continued to amuse many with his quick humour and puns. Music was a soothing remedy to his ailments in later life.

Thank you to Forbes’ numerous and caring friends, business associates and relatives who continued to visit him in the Nursing Home. Just to name a few – many friends at Champion, personal friends & relatives -Glenna, Nan, Anne, Keith, Marian, Stephanie, Tammy and Steve. Many thanks to the ongoing compassionate Harrow Caregivers at Schlegel Villages of St. Clair and Amy’s Helping Hands – many of whom became his friends and confidants.

Respectfully, with the health and safety of all our loved ones in mind, a private graveside service has taken place and a private Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date to honour Forbes’ truly fulfilling life.
