Frederick Wayne French

September 27, 1938March 3, 2020

Wayne French’s almost 82 years cannot be captured here, especially with no warning to prepare a proper tribute. Long after we say our goodbyes, family will be recalling quirky dad puns and out of step, but inner joy, dance moves, while friends will honour him by continuing to exaggerate his past golf rounds at their weekly breakfasts. Through summers at Arrowhead Provincial Park, he provided his young family the freedom to explore and appreciate the outdoors. The school year was dedicated days tackling challenging assignments as a Principal with The Greater Essex County School Board before returning home to two, more challenging assignments, his daughters. He fostered their love of learning and for life with only minor failures ~ his inability to convince them golf was a worthy pastime and that scotch was the perfect complement. His Wok with Wayne creations, ‘bold’ fashion sense, and even his card counting Euchre play will be missed by daughters Amy (Chris Darcy) and Peggy and their mother, Beth. Being able to expand his love of travel with Anne Smith over the last decade and see more of this wonderful world was a particular pleasure for him and his tales of travel extended that joy to family and friends. She will miss her fierce Scrabble foil. His sister, Carolee Stieler, will miss her little brother and stocking his kitchen with homemade goods. Please come share your favourite memories of Wayne with family and friends at Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre, 1969 Wyandotte St. E, (519-252-5711) from 2:00-4:30pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Celebration of Life at 4:30pm. We thank Walter D. Kelly staff for their care and assistance. Donations to cure prostate cancer or to assist the Windsor Residence for Young Men are gratefully accepted.
