Born February 22, 1937, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 9, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara Swegles. George, a loyal and steady friend, uncle, and husband was an adventurer, a craftsman and storyteller. George, the only child of Juanita Foster and Grant Swegles, grew up in Rondeau Park, in the home hand crafted by his father. George was an outdoorsman, accomplished sailor, and fisherman. He loved to fix things, take them apart and recraft them into useful tools or works of art. If George wasn’t outdoors, he was tinkering in one of his workshops, brimming treasure troves of art and history. But most of all George will be remembered for his remarkable stories of adventures that only someone who enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest could tell. We will miss you, George, your sense of humour and your spirit. Memorial tributes to Hearts Together for Haiti at htfhaiti.org would be appreciated by the family. At George’s request, there will no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (519-254-3223) entrusted to arrangements. www.andersonfuneralhomewindsor.com
