Gerald Douglas Raper

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Douglas ‘Doug’ Raper on January 27, 2021 at the age of 81. Doug will be remembered as a dear and devoted husband to Mary Helen Raper for 61 years. Loving father to Lee Anne Raper, Mary Kaye Raper, Jim Raper (Elaine Hanley), Patricia Penstone (Russ Penstone) and predeceased by Sheila Yakovishin (Edward) less than a month ago. Cherished grandfather of Allie and Mitch Raper, and Katy and Alex Penstone. Dear brother of Donald Raper (late Connie), Bob Raper (Jane). Dear brother of Carol Lytle and Mary Lou Halk (Rick). Predeceased by his brother Brian Raper (late Linda). Doug will also be missed by his extended family and friends, fellow parishioners and the Order of Alhambra. Doug worked at Chrysler for 37 years where he made many friends and served as an alternate Union Steward for Local 444 for many years. Doug volunteered as a Sir Noble for the Order of Alhambra and an usher at Holy Name of Mary Parish for over 50 years. Doug regularly drove elderly to and from church. He believed in the power of prayer and serving others humbly and with joy. His sense of humour and kindness will forever live in his family’s hearts. Thank you to all the PSW’s and nurses at Huron Lodge, and the nurses and Doctors on the 8th floor at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus. A huge thanks to his special Angel, Lauren! We will be forever grateful for your dedication to provide Doug with kindness and support when we could not be there to comfort him.
