Mary Nedza

August 8, 1930September 7, 2019

Passed away peacefully on September 7, 2019 at the age of 89.

Beloved wife of the late John Nedza (1985). Loving mom of John (Cindy) of Stratford, ON, Andrew (Judi) of Hensall, ON, and Barbara (Chris) Eccles, Windsor, ON. Proud grandma of Megan Primeau (Richard), Mike Nedza (Ashley), Lindsay Shakeri (Ali), Kelley Nedza, Brendan Eccles, Cameron Eccles, Stefany Eccles and great-grandmother of Madison Primeau, Nicholas Primeau, Remy Nedza. Memorial Donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mary was born Maria Kubiak, in the village of Damaslawek, Poland. She was the second youngest of seven children and spoke fondly of her close and loving family. Her life was one of resilience, bravery and selflessness. As a young girl, she was gravely ill from typhoid fever and then suffered hunger, poverty and oppression during and after World War II. Later in her life, she suffered a heart attack, followed by numerous episodes of congestive heart failure. As a young woman, she balanced working as a veterinarian's assistant and being a caregiver to her mom. Through a fortunate series of connections and with her mother's blessing, she came to meet a widowed Polish-Canadian WW2 veteran with two young boys. Her heart made a connection and she made a life-changing decision to immigrate to Canada and become part of their family. Her life in Canada was dedicated to her family in every way. She was the most loving, giving mom and a talented, hardworking homemaker. Mary also maintained a strong Catholic faith throughout her entire life. Her kind heart and generous spirit extended beyond family to many friends and neighbours. She will be remembered always for her love of cooking, baking and feeding others. In her house, it was inconceivable that one would leave feeling hungry. She truly had a heart of gold, reflected in a smile that could light up a room, and all that were privileged to know her, loved her.

Dear John, Andy and family:
On behalf of the Bluewater Recycling Association, I would like to express our sincerest condolences for your loss. I have never met Maria but I have had the pleasure to work with her offsprings and that is enough to tell me she must have been a fine lady. The thoughts of my family and those of everyone at the Association are with you. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead.
