Paul Edmond Burton

Born August 24, 1937. It is with sad hearts that Paul's family announces his peaceful passing which took place on August 22, 2013 at the age of 75. Paul leaves behind his loving wife of 52 years, Dianne; his son Gregory and wife Loranda; his son Michael and wife Martha; his son Jeffory and wife Anne; and grandchildren, Jerritt (Bethany), Jillian (Jesiah), Samantha, Kelly, Sarah, Katherine, and Seth. Paul will also be missed by his sisters Helen Bryce, Arla Tousignant, Marge Muszinski, Carol Jane Wagner, brother-in-law Rick and their families. Paul is predeceased by his parents Martin and Muriel, sisters Lois Kinsey and Bernadette Click, and brothers Gerald Burton, Melvin Burton, and Larry Burton. Paul proudly served in the Canadian Army for 7 years followed by a 36 year career in the food retail grocery industry as a butcher and retired in December of 1999. He made many life-long friends with whom he enjoyed playing golf, entertaining, evenings out, and lots of laughs. Dianne and Paul were fortunate to do some travelling over the years and made many wonderful memories together. Family was the most important thing in his life and everyone knew they could depend on him in a crunch. Paul always had a great sense of humour and relied on it to get through the tough times. After a long struggle with illness, we have lost a truly wonderful man who will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him. The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Village of Aspen Lake for all of their kindness, compassion, and support. Cremation has taken place. A Veteran's memorial service will be held at the Walter D. Kelly Life Celebration Centre (1969 Wyandotte St. E.) on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County (2135 Richmond St., Windsor). Paul's children and grandchildren are participating in the Run for Heroes for Alzheimers in memory and honour of their father and grandfather on September 22, 2013 in Amherstburg, ON.
