

Passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2011 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Holmes). He will be missed by his children Cynthia & Douglas Crozier, Cameron Barnes, Sarah & Jim Jackson, and Christopher Barnes. Dear Grandad to Kenneth and Shannon Jackson. Fondly remembered by Sarah and Shantelle Renaud. Predeceased by his brother Canon Walter Barnes and sister Elizabeth. He will be missed by his sister-in-law Marylen Barnes and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob served overseas throughout WWII with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was appointed Captain in August 1940. A graduate of the University of Toronto (1947) and Osgoode Hall (1949). His legal career spanned over 50 years, retiring from Sutts, Strosberg in 2004. He was the founding director and first president of the St. Leonard’s Society of Canada. Inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1985. Recipient of The Law Society Medal in 1987. Past President of the Essex County Medico-Legal Society. Member of the Ontario Legal Aid Committee and the Advocates’ Society. He was a lifetime member of Essex Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor. Dad enjoyed a lifelong passion for sailing and joined the Windsor Yacht Club during his later years. “Sail on sailor”. The family would like to thank the Bayshore PSW’s & nurses for their exceptional care and devotion during the past 5 years. At Dad’s request there will be no funeral service.
