Gordon William Schumacher

Gordon William Schumacher died June 30, 2013 of natural causes. He is proceeded in death by his parents Albert and Opal Schumacher, in laws Norman and Anna French, brothers in law Bob Yenny and Charles Thompson along with multiple aunts and uncles. He is survived by his sister Margaret Thompson of Riverton Wyoming, his son Albert (Annette) Schumacher of Lovelock Nevada, Andrew (Joanne) of Mobridge South Dakota, Gordy (Stacy) of Pendleton Oregon, and Garrett of Sparks Nevada. He is also survived by his grandkids Alix O'Neill, William, Jacob, Patrick, Max, Morgan and Maddaline and four great grandchildren.

Gordon was born July 12, 1943 in Riverton Wyoming. He attended grade school, Junior High School and High School in Riverton. He excelled as an athlete while there playing football, basketball and baseball. After high school Gordon attended Barber School in Salt Lake City Utah. He worked in Barber Shops in Meeteese and Laramie Wyoming. While in Laramie he attended The University Of Wyoming, cementing him as a life long Wyoming Cowboy's fan. At The University of Wyoming he met Nicki French, they were soon married and started their lives together. He moved back to Riverton in the middle sixties and opened a Barber Shop. Soon the mining industry called and he mined in Wyoming first in the Riverton area then Casper and eventually in Glenrock Wyoming. Gordon and his family moved to Winnemucca Nevada in 1988 where Gordon continued to mine eventually retiring in the community.

Gordon loved the outdoors and took a special pride in passing on that love to his children and grandchildren. He was a coach to many and inspired the youth with his experience. His children benefitted from his knowledge of gamesmanship and sportsmanship. He instilled hard work and character through his actions and words of advice. Gordon was passionate about The Class of 1961 at Riverton High School and wished donations go to The Class Of 61 Scholarship fund instead of flowers or memorials.
