

Richard James Deller, 68, of Winnemucca, passed away Sunday August 7, 2011 while doing what he loved, camping at Rye Patch State Park. He was born on June 27, 1943 in Steubenville, Ohio to John and Margaret Deller. He served his country during the Vietnam War and spent a total of twenty years in the United States Air Force, discharging honorably on disability. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Park College and a Master’s of Education from the University of Dayton. He was a Drug Court counselor and worked as a Drug and Alcohol counselor for twenty years. He was married to Beverly Deller. He enjoyed camping, NHRA drag racing, playing cards and just being with family and friends. Richard was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Winnemucca.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his children, Teresa Boardman, Tracy Conter, Richard Calhoun, Shawn Deller and Ryan Deller. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, a brother Jack Deller and a sister, Peg Barber.
Beverly would like to thank Sam & Saundra Matheny, Ed & Janie Sampson, Steve & Linnea Cochrane, Kevin & Paula Bannon, the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office and the Park Rangers at Rye Patch State Park. She would also like to recognize Betty Roeder, Candace Cox, Russ and DJ Mullis, Stana Hunt, Karri Garcia and her very special friend, Tony. The care and concern from all of you is very appreciated.
Services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday August 15, 2011 at the Northern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Fernley, Nevada.
