She will be sadly missed by her dear husband Rudy; children Kathy (Rob), Doug, Karen and David; grandsons Nick (Emily), Stefan and Brad; her loving sister Merna; nephew Michael (Laurie); niece Denise (Rick) and her daughters Kaleigh (fiancée Jake) and Bridget. Stepchildren Marlene (Bob), Herb (Nancy), Leo (Marianne), Dolores (Roger); and many wonderful grand and great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her mother, Molly; father Laurens; brother-in-law, Lou; and son-in-laws Henry and Glen.
Mom was a loving and caring wife and mother, her outgoing and friendly personality made her well-loved among family and friends. A long time Eaton’s employee, she took great pride in her work and in return she was well respected. Mom was fond of the outdoors especially her time at Victoria Beach and Spruce Sands Manitoba. She was an avid sports fan and participant, especially in curling and baseball. The Blue Jays have lost a devoted fan. Mom was gifted in artistic talent both in drawing and music. Being fiercely competitive made her a popular Bridge partner in many clubs over the years. She also loved her weekly Bingo games. One of the ways mom best showed her love was in the kitchen. Many of our fondest family memories are of us gathered during the holidays to feast on her famous cooking. Mom and Rudy both shared a passion for food and travel taking them to the restaurants and shops throughout Manitoba.
After a lengthy battle with cancer, mom died peacefully in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones.
Family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba and the Health Sciences Centre.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9.
