Agapita was born on March 24, 1939 in Imus, Cavite, Philippines, to Maria (Camaclang) Santarin and Hermogenes Santarin, Sr. She was the oldest of 11 siblings. She was raised in Imus, Cavite, and that is where she met husband, Ismael. They married in 1958. It was in Imus where they raised and built a loving home for their five children. In August 2000, Agapita and her husband immigrated to Canada and moved to their new home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Agapita or ‘Nanay Itang’ to her children and grandchildren, cherished bonding and spending quality time with her family and relatives. She enjoyed cooking and will be dearly remembered for the delicious meals that she served to her family and relatives. Nanay Itang loved singing and was active in her community’s reading of the passion. In her later years, Nanay Itang had an affinity to watching baseball, especially her favourite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Nanay Itang will be remembered as a strong woman that dedicated her life to her family. Her pride and joy were her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The Satsatin family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Health Sciences Centre for the care and compassion that was provided to our mother during her final days.
Private viewing and cremation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021. A memorial will be announced at a later date.
