Our beautiful Mother, Oma, Ur Oma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Annelie Friesen passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9th at the age of 87 years young.
Born on February 1, 1927 in Blumengard, Russia to Peter & Katja Penner, Mom immigrated to Winnipeg on September 29, 1928.
Mom was much more than a loving and loved mother and wife. She was an Artist, Designer, Seamstress, Master Quilter, Teacher, Chef, Psychologist, Environmentalist, Negotiator, Wordsmith, Financier, Volunteer, Pianist, Gardener, Golfer & Curler to name just a few.
She will be greatly missed by her children Myra, Eric (Elaine), Eleanore (Henry), Michael (Susan), Carla (Ken), Denise (Jean-Louis); grandchildren Tanya (Miles), Che (Sharon), Aysa, Annika (Charlie), Anders, Tim (Tammy), Sarah (Remy), Pallulaaq, Tapaarjuk (Allen), Maria, Ippiksaut, Tia, Jennifer, Vanessa (Jerrod), Rachel (Lincoln), Matthew (Naila), Matthew (Chrissy), Tim, Jennifer, Sonja, Lisa, Rachel; great-grandchildren Ella, Zoey, Hana, Rayna, Taylor, Avery, Anneleh, Trinity, Samantha, Reese, Galix, Nayelle, Navaaq, Petra, Joshua, Sadie, Norah, Abigail and Arlen; sister Margaret McQueen, brother Paul Penner, aunt Irene Enns, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Dr. Peter H. Friesen, parents Katja and Peter Penner, sister Helene and brother John.
Special thanks to the many nurses and aides that helped to keep Mom as comfortable as possible these past few months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission or Mennonite Central Committee.
The service in Mom’s memory will be held on Friday, June 13, 11:00 am, at the First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg.
