It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony Dacquisto, 89, on April 6, 2015 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his children David (Josée); Jon (Joy); Donald (Lisa); Laura (Ron); Michael (Holly); grandchildren Natalie, Emma, Nicolas, Luke, Sara, Lauren, John Daniel, Paul and Jude. Predeceased by his beloved wife Lola, in November 2014 and parents Santo and Lucrezia Dacquisto (Tarantino).
Born December 19, 1925 in Winnipeg, Anthony enlisted in the military in 1940 at age 15. He fought in the Italian Campaign, often scouting in advance of the front line. After the war, Anthony returned to school and graduated from United College.
With the outbreak of the Korean conflict, Tony continued his military service. He served in Korea in the Canadian Intelligence Corps.
Upon returning from Korea, Anthony married Lola Bertulli on August 13, 1952. Happily married for 62 years, they raised five children together.
He worked at Great West Life and later was the General Manager of Mutual of Omaha’s Winnipeg Branch for many years. He left the insurance business to become General Manager of Capital Granite Ltd., guiding the company’s launch and establishing its global markets in Brazil, Italy and Japan.
A mass and funeral service will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Church. A reception will follow.
