It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Tony on September 2, 2010.
Born Anthony Michael Montanti in Winnipeg, Manitoba September 1, 1930, Tony was predeceased by his wife Joy of sixty years. Left to mourn are his daughter Angela (Vernon), son Marc (Teresa); grandchildren Veronica (Tim), Bryan, Stefano and Toni; great granddaughter Zarya; brother Jim Gardner; sister-in-law Beth Thoroski; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and of course, his very special friend Lucy Ciuro.
Tony had a passion for business. During the fifties he owned Riverwood Esso. In the sixties he owned two billiard halls (Miami and Thunderbird) and from 1977 to 2010 the Cambridge Hotel. When Tony wasn’t at the Cambridge he was curling and watching sports, especially football and hockey. He enjoyed fishing, from his cottage on Lake of the Woods, Ontario to the deep waters of the West Coast and the Arctic Ocean.
Tony will be remembered in our hearts forever as a loving, generous, humorous individual; a great man who always placed his family first.
Dad, we will miss you deeply.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 8 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.
In the lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
