Antonietta DeLuca passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on October 8, 2022 in the loving warmth of family by her side at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, Manitoba.
She will be sadly missed by her children,Tony (Bretta), daughter Rosa (Greg), grandchildren Brinton, Tauren, Jenessa (David), Alexandra and great grandson Matteo. Left to cherish her memory also are nephews, Nicolo (Maria) Capolongo and family, Nello (Mary) Capolongo and family of Winnipeg, and niece Filomena (Joe) Hurley of Vancouver, BC and family.
Antonietta was predeceased by her husband, Biagio; her brother Giovanni and her sisters Mattia and Italia, all of Italy.
Antonietta was born on January 22, 1933 in Cimitile, Italy. She came to Canada in 1961 and married Biagio that same year in Winnipeg where they began to make a life and raise two children. They settled into their home in River Heights where they lived for many years hosting numerous pasta Sundays with their grandchildren, gardening and relaxing in their big back yard.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff at East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home in Beausejour, MB. During her stay there, she was affectionately called Nonna as she thought of them as family. She often made them chuckle by calling everyone she came in contact with “darling”. With a little coaxing, she took part in crafts and activities and even won at some card games. She would always save the prizes for me, always thinking of me…She took up painting, and I am glad she did. I have a nice collection of art framed that will remind me of her.
Mom you are no longer in our lives to share but in our hearts forever there. You are at peace with Dad now…rest well.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave, with viewing at 9:00 am and service at 10:00 am. Entombment to follow at Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street.
Riposa in pace, Mama
