Obituary of Arthur Leonard Anderson
Remembered With Love Arthur Leonard Anderson Len/Lenny/Papa Bear/Grandpa Bear to his family and friends Our Dad was an amazing man, born April 4,1929 to Axle and Albertina Anderson in Whitemouth, MB. Dad was the baby of 16 siblings and lost both parents at a very young age. Dad started out on his own at 14 living for a bit with one of his older brothers who he looked up to. As Dad started to forge his way in life, he met our mom Shirley and the two were married in July of 1951. They spent 52 years together and had five children, losing one daughter too soon. Our Dad was a railroader for life, he spent 35 years with the Burlington Northern Railway retiring with distinction. However, that wasn’t his only passion. Our Dad owned and operated two successful businesses with our Mom and had a huge political presence, running for city council and being a major player and supporter for the St Vital, Provincial and Federal Liberal party in the 80’s and 90’s. After losing Mom in 2003, Dad was fortunate to meet and marry his second love Elaine and just celebrated 14 years of marriage this past February on the 14th, their Champagne year. Dad and Elaine travelled, going to Hawaii, going on cruises with good friends and having the pleasure of wintering in Arizona every winter. Elaine not only brought love and life to Dad, but a new burst of love for travel which he thoroughly enjoyed. Another passion of Dad’s was watching sports, which he enjoyed and was a Winnipeg Blue Bomber season ticket holder with his oldest son for many many years. Dad was predeceased by his oldest son in October 2018 and we know another piece of his heart was lost that day. Our Dad was a fighter till the end, We nicknamed him the “Energizer Bunny” as he didn’t let any illnesses stop him from living a full life. Dad was also very proud of his family, his grandchildren and his beautiful extended family who welcomed and loved him. Dad, you’re at peace now and you will be cherished and remembered by your remaining children, your loving wife, many grandkids, your extended family and your cherished friends We Love You Dad ❤️ Rest now Papa Bear ❤️ ❤️❤️ As requested, no funeral will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his honour.
