It is with deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Arthur Epp (Art) at the age of 87 with his wife Kathleen and son Dwayne by his side.
Art is survived by his wife Kathleen (nee Nickel); children: Margaret-Ann (Ken) Dyck; Marilyn Epp; Wendy (Gary predeceased) Grant; Donovan (Laura) Epp; Lindsay (Stacey Manchulenko) Epp; Dwayne (Amber Klassen) Epp; along with 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters-in-laws.
Art was predeceased by his parents Johann and Margareta Epp, six siblings, one son-in-law, one grandchild and brothers and sisters-in-laws.
Art was born in a farmhouse in Miami, Manitoba and delivered into this world by his father. Dad grew up on the farm, met and later married Kathleen Nickel June 3, 1956. They started their married life as farmers in the Carman/Homewood area. Around 1967, while farming, Dad learned the carpentry trade. He began with inside finish work and soon realized he could not farm and be a carpenter at the same time. Since he preferred the carpentry more than farming Dad began his new career as a full-time carpenter. This eventually led to building complete houses and opening a partnership in Triangle Lumber Yard out of Roland Manitoba. Mom and Dad moved to Roland in 1978. Dad continued his passion for carpentry until a few years ago when he decided he wanted to plant flowers for the Heritage Manor where they retired to in 2009.
“My God is a Great God” Dad had a deep commitment and Love for his God, which he demonstrated throughout his life and felt blessed to work with youth as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving care provided by the Doctors, Nurses, Staff and Emergency Responders from Boundary Trails Hospital. Mom is very grateful for the time Donovan and Dwayne Epp spent taking her to visit Dad in the hospital and her own medical appointments.
A private family service will be held at Grace Mennonite Church in Winkler, Manitoba with burial to follow at Graysville Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Donations in Art Epp’s memory may be made to the Youth Programs at Grace Mennonite Church.
