She leaves to mourn her five sons; Domenico (Rossana), Sam, Carmen, Joe (Melina), Phillip (Trina), her ten grandchildren; Anthony, Michael, Suzanne (Geoff), Ryan, Adam, Domenica, Antonio, Bryson, Dawson and Dylan.
Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1959 with their two small boys Domenic and Sam. The two boys were four and six and they were their primary reasons for wanting a better life. Soon after they arrived she began working at Perth’s Cleaners. She took great pride in her job and often recruited other new immigrants. After two short years she and her husband bought their first home. Mom enjoyed this so much she was flipping real estate before it was fashionable. A bigger home was especially important as her family grew to five boys. Her energy was undeniable. Her sons and all who knew her could not believe how she seemed to work without stopping. She looked after her family in the day and worked the evening shift. We could only imagine the challenges and rewards caring for her husband and five boys. The home was always clean, dinner was always exactly at 4:00 pm, the laundry was done and she made her own bread right up until last week. Sunday was a day of rest and family time. Mom always made a big pasta dinner for her family and afterwards they would drink a little wine and sing some Neapolitan songs and talk about the old country. Life was good.
On the day she died the sun was bright and the air was warm. We know that she would have been in her garden preparing for the season. Mom never missed a season, although her ability to walk was limited. She was famous for her tomato salads and fresh bread.
Mom’s smile was constant and her laugh undeniable. Unbelievably after her stroke she continued to smile and laugh for her family until the Lord called her.
She was extremely proud of her boys and their accomplishments. She loved babies and was fortunate enough to baby sit for all her ten grandchildren. We always knew that when Nonna looked after them they were safe, clean, well fed and loved.
