Born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, Barrie spent his first twelve (12) years growing up on the family farm. His family then moved to Arborg, where he helped in the family owned restaurant and was a proud member of “The Shadows”. He enjoyed telling stories of his misspent youth and did not apologize for any of it.
Barrie loved his wife Nancy, his sons and family. He was looking forward to watching his grandson grow and was hoping to encourage him to be a Habs fanatic – just like him.
He was especially proud of his sons. He spent a lot of time with them, got to know their friends and never missed any of their hockey games. He encouraged love for the Habs, the outdoors and his eclectic range of music. He was committed to expanding their sense of fun and independence. He truly liked who they have become.
Barrie will be forever missed by his wife Nancy, sons Laurie (Ashley), Erik (Jessica) and grandson Jaxon. He leaves his parents John and Jean Kosie of Arborg, brother Ken (Jeanette), nephew Brent, niece Rachelle and their families. He leaves a hole in the hearts of the Mandziuk clan and many Aunts, cousins, friends and neighbours.
He touched many lives and we know that all those close to him will share their stories of Barrie for a long time with smiles and laughter.
In accordance with his wishes there will be no funeral, he hated them!
The Family will be holding a Farewell Viewing and Remembrance and are welcoming all those who knew Barrie to join them on Friday, September 18, 2015 2:00p.m at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home,1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg.
