

Ben will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Gloria. Son’s Bradley (Tracy) and Derek (Amber). Grandchildren Bailey, Ashton and Dylan. Sister Evelyn, Brothers Steve, Rick (Ashley), his sister-in-law Shirley (Colin) and Brother-in-law Ed. Ben will also be remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Ben was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Mary Komistek.
Ben was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on September 20, 1945. Ben grew up enjoying hunting and fishing and was known for being quite a good hockey player, being named the top defenseman in Thunder Bay during his teen years.
After Starting a career in banking and working numerous jobs in different provinces he finally settled in Winnipeg Where he started his family with his loving wife Gloria. Together they had two children, Bradley and Derek, with the importance of family always being a top priority for Ben.
Ben retired at the age of 53 and enjoyed summers at the family cottage in Buffalo Point, while winters were mostly enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing hockey. Watching his grandchildren play sports was one of his favorite things to do in his later years, and it also brought back great memories of his time watching and coaching his boys play hockey when they were younger.
Ben will be forever loved and never forgotten.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff and nurses at Seven Oaks hospital who provided Ben with exceptional care and made his final days comfortable and peaceful.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday July 27th at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
