It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved son, Brent, age 27, who passed away on January 21, 2025. He was born on November 24, 1997 bringing immeasurable joy and love to family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
From a young age, Brent displayed a warm spirit and a kind heart. He was known for his generous nature, ready to offer help or comforting words to those in need. Brent found joy in gaming with his online friends whom he came to know from all over the world.
He loved cats! He’d not lived a day in his life in which cats weren’t a very special part of it! He persevered through all his physical disabilities and approached every challenge with positivity and gusto! He also enjoyed the company of workers from Life’s Journey, who took him under their wing to help him expand the possibilities for his life. Vince - a massive thank you!
Above all, Brent cherished time spent with family. He shared a special bond with his parents, Joanne and Peter and with many beloved relatives (special mention to Auntie Boo and Uncle Aime) and friends who will forever remember his laughter, sense of humor, and his knowledge on a whole array of topics that were hard for ANY of us to understand! Lol.
Brent was preceded in death by his dad, Peter in August 2024 as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his mom, Joanne and a loving extended family who will continue to honor his memory by living life to the fullest and by exemplifying the compassion and empathy he so effortlessly showed. He is also survived by his birth mother Sandra Balfour-Queskekapow and many family members in Norway House Cree Nation.
There will be no service as per his request. There will be a private gathering of our family and Brent’s close friends at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made in Brent’s memory to any cat rescue charity in Winnipeg. He supported Miss J. La’s Fur Babies Cat Café and Adoption Centre, Craig Street Cats and the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Though my heart is heavy, I find solace in knowing that Brent’s bright spirit continues to shine on in the memories and stories shared by all who loved him. I extend my deepest gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy, support, and prayers during this very difficult time.
