Caridad Dela Cruz

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Caridad “Caring” Saavedra dela Cruz on February 10, 2018 at the age of 77 at Riverview Health Centre. An admirable mother and homemaker, Caridad was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she made a lot of friends and touched lives while working voluntarily for her chosen charities and numerous fundraising events.

She was a dedicated member of OFSAM (Original Filipino Association of Manitoba) where she was also called “Carrie”. She was crowned as Queen Valentine and eventually as OFSAM Queen in 2016. She’s often seen with a smiling face and wherever she goes there’s laughter. Her absence will be a reminder of her innumerable contributions to the success of the association.

She will be lovingly remembered by her six children and spouses Allan Paul (Maria Paz), Girlene (Fred), Maritess (Jun), Filcor (Cristy), Rainelda and Rachel; eighteen grandchildren Argel, Hazel, Lance, Michael, Ace, Kristine, Krizzel, Gilbert, Carlo, Alfred, Kristoffer, Karl, Rolo, Krizzia, Krizna, Richie, Ryan and Jimbeam; and nine great-grandchildren Ayklem, Mckoy, Damian, Rye Kelli, Sam Annika, Kelly Castiel, Cassius, Alexius and Kailani.

Caridad was preceded in death by her parents Felipe Saavedra Sr. and Mamerta de Paz. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Caridad, their greatest gratitude.

Lamay and viewing will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard.

Mass of the Resurrection will take place on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 836 Arlington Street.
