Carol was born in Stouffville, Ontario on May 18, 1952. She attended Elim Bible Institute in Altona, Manitoba where she met her husband, Lawrence Waldo Friesen. They were married on November 10, 1973. Together they raised three children, Rose, Pearl and Daniel in Crystal City, Domain and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Carol was a woman of deep faith who was known for her gentle, kind spirit and listening ear. She demonstrated determination be it in learning the southern Manitoba Mennonite culture, working part-time while raising her children or the hours of therapy it took to recover from her stroke in 2003. Her love for sewing was evident in adorable outfits and toys for her children and later with the ladies of Glenlea Mennonite Church making quilts for Mennonite Central Committee. A homemade bowl of soup and a delicious dessert was always available in her kitchen.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lawrence, her children, Rose (Pedro) Sanchez, Pearl (Stephen) VonZuben and Daniel Friesen, her grandchildren (Yiria, Genesis, Lyla, Loretta, Abigail), her mother-in-law, Louise Friesen, her sister, Joan (Carter) Ingram and many nieces and nephews. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Marion Ball and father-in-law, George Friesen. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Patti Tait for her care for Carol in her last hours.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 10:00 am at Grant Memorial Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue, with viewing prior to the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations may be made to "MCC Comforters" (Mennonite Central Committee) in Carol Friesen’s memory.
