The Carriere family will like to share the journey and story of Charmaine Elaine Carriere/Crate who left to the spirit world unexpectedly on May 4, 2021 in her home in Winnipeg, Mb. Charmaine was born July 23, 1997 in Winnipeg to parents of Marlene J Carriere and Brian G Crate. When Charmaine was born, she came out feet first, it was like she was telling the world I’m here and ready to start my journey and walk in a way that is best for me. This is exactly how her journey was paved out to be.
Charmaine used different nicknames which reflected her personality and character – Charlie, Chamoo, Chamz and The Cham was her last nickname. There is a story behind each name and one story is Chamoo – when she found out what it meant in French – a whale – she did not want to be called a whale. She immediately changed it to Chamz.
Charmaine is survived by her parents Marlene in Winnipeg and Brian in Cumberland House, Sk brother Jeremy (Jennifer); her children Justice (Handsome), Harmony (Phatty Angel), Kaedan (Bubbas), Dezrin (Baby Love); niece Jayde Carriere-Bennie and nephew Leon Mars; aunties Bev (Kev), Gail, Elaine, Moneca Sinclaire, Rachel Fiddler, Elaine Crate: uncles Roger II (Sherri), Clifford, Ronnie and Gregory Crate, Donald Fiddler; cousins Robyn, Raven, Ashley, David (Mel), Caitlyn (KK), Geoff (Shavonne), Mark, Roger III, Curtis, Blair (Sara); many cousins in Cranberry Portage, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, The Pas, Cumberland House, Brandon, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, LaRonge, West Kelowna-BC, and Moose Lake. Charmaine was predeceased by her grandparents Olive & Roger Carriere, uncles Leonard Carriere, Larry, Louie, Victor Crate, aunties Brenda Carriere & Lorraine Crate; niece Sloane Chasity Carriere-Sinclair, cousin Karly Henderson, grandparents Melanie & Robert Crate. There are numerous great aunties, uncles and cousins.
Charmaine was loved by her friends and family. She was a great story teller and knew how to make people laugh. Throughout her life she had traveled across Canada from Northern B.C to Nova Scotia. Charmaine had made lifelong friends who cared for her deeply. She loved to spend her time writing in her journal and playing games such as Yahtzee and Scrabble. She would remind everyone of how she was in the top 5% of scrabble players in the world.
Charmaine was proud of all of her children and wanted nothing but happiness, love and success in their life. She loved spending quality time with who she loved and keeping close connections with her Aunties and Uncles in Cumberland, OCN, and Cranberry Portage.
Charmaine was a woman of many talents. She loved to cook, organize and decorate. She was naturally artistic and loved to draw and make collages.
She often spoke about her sister Chasity, grandparents Olive and Roger and aunty Brenda who she missed dearly. Now she is reunited with her guardian angels.
Due to Co-Vid restrictions viewing is limited to family and will begin at Noon, May 15, 2021; Service at 2:15 pm at Thomson in the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillvary Blvd. Winnipeg, MB. Service will be available on the funeral home website. Cremation will take place after the service.
Charmaine will join her sister Chasity in Cranberry Portage in August 2021 beside her grandparents Olive and Roger and aunty Brenda.
