It is with broken hearts that on January 7th, 2024 with family at his side, our dear son Cole suddenly passed away at the young age of 27.
Cole will be lovingly remembered by his Parents Lori and Craig, Sister Lindsay (Blake, niece Nora), Brother Luke (Ashley), Grandparents Ray and Faye Mason; Cliff and Elaine Marquardson. Also remembering Cole are many aunts, uncles and cousins; Anita, Steve, Haley (Brian, Lennon, Rayland) and Cory (Jessica) Hyndman; Jeff, Lisa, Garrett and Allora Mason; Bob, Jenny, Taylor and Katie Marquardson; Kelly, Ryan, Kai and Vayda Smith. As well as many great aunts, uncles and friends.
Despite all of the challenges that Cole faced, his infectious laugh and beautiful smile spread love and joy to everyone around him. Cole was a son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, friend, cousin and the best teacher to all of us. Cole taught everyone how special life really was and kept us all humble.
Cole was born on December 19, 1996 in Winnipeg, Manitoba welcomed by his mom, dad, big sister Lindsay and big brother Luke. There was no time wasted. Cole spent many hours at the lake, water parks, camping and many trips to visit family. Cole loved being with his family and friends.
Cole attended Strathmillan, Bruce Middle School then graduated from John Taylor Collegiate. The schools that Cole attended were exceptional in the inclusive social activities that involved Cole from every aspect. Through these years he had many loving EA’s, teachers and met many friends of all differences. To name a few; Cole attended swimming programs, music classes... in middle school, is where he made his sports star debut excelling in bowling and tried out sledge hockey.
Post school years, Cole attended wonderful day programs at St. Amant. When the world stopped, we were able to safely look after Cole full time at home. We were incredibly blessed to do so and many special memories were made.
Out of the school realm throughout his life Cole had many respite workers that became a part of our family including Karen, Kathy, Krista, Corey, Cindy and Terry.
In Cole’s most recent months when we returned to work, he continued to be cared for at home with multiple wonderful caregivers.
Cole was amazing! Cole loved people! Cole loved parties and noise! He loved Music. The louder the better. Every time we drop something or stub our toe, we will be reminded of that infectious laugh that would follow.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday January 16th, 2024 at Thomson “In The Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba. To join the service on line, click on "Join Livestream" link below.
We would love to thank our family and friends for their non stop continuous support and inclusion over the years. We are so grateful to our other children for being patient and understanding of how Cole has impacted all of our lives. We couldn’t be more proud of how they have embraced this adversity. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of Coles wonderful EA’s, teachers, respite workers, camp buddies and extensive medical teams over the years.
