Cummings was born in 1928 and lived his entire life in Winnipeg, Manitoba before retiring to the Sandy Hook Interlake area.
Cummings was an extremely hardworking man all of his life! He often worked two or three jobs at one time. He retired in 1983 as the Chief Correctional Officer at Headingly Correctional Institution just outside Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cummings lived life to the fullest, he loved traveling, gardening, playing crib and spending time golfing at the Sandy Hook Golf Course. He was a devoted husband, friend and very much enjoyed a libation or two with family and friends.
Sadly, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary in 2007. He is survived by his two sons Doug, Tim (Bev) and grandson Colin (Tabitha) and great-grandchildren Stori, Maddox and Ava. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Cummings memory to Evergreen Basic Needs, Gimili, Manitoba.
Miss Me-But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room; why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not too lone and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared, miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me – but let me go!
