She will be forever in the hearts of her daughter Kim (Vern), son Kris (Monique), her 5 grandchildren Ryan, Kaiden, Presley, Ethan, and Kashton and numerous family and friends. Her husband Bryan of 42 years, along with mom Olga and dad George went on before her to help bring her home.
Although Darlene was an only child she was quick to mention that she had 52 first cousins and that the love they shared made up for her lack of siblings. Darlene had a very special relationship with her grandchildren who thought Nana was the funniest lady around. Darlene spent her childhood between Flin Flon, Dauphin and Winnipeg. She lived a wonderful life with her husband Bryan, travelling and exploring the world, at first as a couple and then a family of four. After Bryan’s death in 2011, Darlene was determined to live out their retirement dream and moved herself to Gull Lake for summers and began heading south all on her own for the winter months. By doing this, she discovered a world full of new friendships and adventures in Guayabitos Mexico. Her time in Guayabitos had such a profound impact on her that she has requested her family visit with her one last time, to discover the world she loved so much, meet the people that she grew to call family and to lay her ashes on the beaches there.
At her request, there will be no service to follow.
Kim and Kris would like to thank the amazing staff at Grace Hospice for the wonderful care they provided in the short time that Darlene was there.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospice or Cancer Care Manitoba.
