Dennis Albert Schaefer

Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his 2nd wife Sandra (nee Weber), son David (Katherine), granddaughter Amber, sister Trudy (Craig) Wallis, and stepsons David and Richard Stawn. He will also be missed by nephew and nieces Chris and Kim Wallis, Kathy (Bob) Carter, and Susan (Darren) Shaw.

Dennis was predeceased by his 1st wife Elaine (nee Watt), son Jim, brother Larry, sister-in-law Etty (nee Kirchhofer), nephew Brian, and parents Arthur and Emily (nee Weitzel).

Dennis was born on May 14th, 1937 in Winnipeg. He attended Faraday and Isaac Newton schools. Dad began his career with Canadian National Railway before moving to Manitoba Department of Highways and Transportation where he was employed as Manager of Transportation Policy until his retirement in 1995.

Dad loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and especially spending time with friends and family at the cabin which he built at Ingolf, Ontario. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, photography, music, and carpentry. In retirement he enjoyed golf and travelling. Dad will forever be remembered for his thoughtfulness, laughter, and smile.

Celebration of Dennis’s life will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East at Navin Rd, on Tuesday September 5th at 2PM with Pastor David Lowe officiating. Interment will follow.
