Derin Oladunni Badmus, age 75 passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
Derin Oladunni Badmus was born in Ogun state, Nigeria on August 13, 1947, to the late Abolaji Juliana Banjo and late Samuel Ayodele Banjo. She was the first born to her mother, and became a role model to her younger siblings.
Derin was married to the late Omotayo Badmus and was blessed with three children; Yetunde Olawuyi, Oluwakemi Botu and Oluyemi (Funlola) Yaya. She was also blessed with grandchildren and is survived by siblings and cousins.
Derin attended St Mary Primary School and went on with her secondary school education at Our Lady of Apostle, Remo (1960-1965). She obtained her High School Certificate at Ijebu Ode Grammar School. In view of her career pathway, she worked at National Bank of Nigeria from 1972, and retired in 1994 as an Assistant Manager after 22 years.
Derin was known to be reserved, soft spoken and polite. Her generosity touched many lives, and she was always ready to support and help others in need. She was known to have taken a motherly role for siblings following their mother’s early demise. This character development impacted on the way she treated everyone around her, as she believed she was responsible and accountable for others. Her love and sacrifice for her children and siblings will always be remembered.
Derin was a fervent lover of God, known for her early morning walks to church for daily prayers, and she kept her faith in God to the last moment. Derin will be missed by all, not forgotten and her forever phrase of, “It is well” shall remain with her family. May her soul rest in eternal glory with Christ.
We would like to thank the entire staff HSC hospital, Winnipeg for taking care of Derin in her final days.
