She was born during the Winnipeg Strike on May 19, 1919 to Robert David Maclean and Annie Mary Maxwell. She was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. Dossie attended Rupertsland School for Girls, followed by the University of Manitoba where she completed her Education Degree. She was a member of Westminster United Church and made lifelong friendships as a member of the Decadames and the Three O’Clock Book Club. Always wanting to challenge herself, she completed an oral history of Winnipeg Beach for the provincial archives with her dear friend Dora Carpenter.
Dossie will be remembered for her strong sense of family and friendship. After her mother’s death, she took care of her father as well as her own busy family. She was a true matriarch.
She is survived by sons Tom (Janet), John (Monica) and daughters Dossie (Paul) and Jane (John). She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren whom she adored.
There will be a gathering in the summer for a celebration of her life at her beloved cottage at Winnipeg Beach.
The family wishes to thank the caring people of Kenwood House in the Rosewood.
In Dossie’s memory, donations made to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights would be appreciated.
