December 26, 1956September 30, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Doug Cathro surrounded by many of his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doug will forever be remembered by his loving wife Lori and his two sons Jeremy (Shawna) and Ryan (Livia), as well as his four precious grandchildren Larissa, Hailey, Dylan and Chace and God Daughter Carli.

He will be sadly missed by his Father In-law and Mother In-Law John and Joyce, siblings Glen (Val), Kathy, Dan and Lori’s siblings Dean, Chris and Jackie, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father David, his mother Dorothy and his siblings, Diane, Donald and Darren.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Doug loved to golf and play slo-pitch. He also loved to travel, and he was a passionate Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets fan. He loved music, old movies and all kinds of puzzles.

Doug was known for his contagious laugh and his amazing smile. He will be remembered as a cheerful guy with a kind and gentle soul. He was a wonderful man, who will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday October 25 from 4:00 – 8:00 at Oxford Heights Community Club (Upstairs Hall) located at 359 Dowling Ave E in Transcona.

The family would like to share a heartfelt thank you with the staff on 3West at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care.

Doug was a wonderful son in law. We couldn’t have asked for a better Husband for our daughter, and Father for our grandsons. We have many happy memories through the years. We will miss him every day.

Lori and family, so sorry to hear of your loss. Doug was the sort of coworker you felt good knowing and was missed when he retired.
May your love and memories help you during this difficult time. And know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lori & Family: Sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. I knew Doug from years of working at the Winnipeg Tax Centre. Over the years we had many conversations on a variety of things from our kids playing hockey to union related topics to warm places to visit to get out of the Winnipeg winters. He had an infectious smile. He may have had an opinion on something but was always able to see another’s point of view. He will be remembered not only by you but by all those he worked with. Your pain & sorrow is shared by everyone who knew Doug. RIP Doug.

I will miss Doug for his fun-loving work ethic and his kind words to everybody. Doug made WORK bearable for me and a lot of other co workers. You shall be missed. To the ones you left behind, sincere sympathy. Monique.
