Remembered with Love

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Drinda-Lee Wood who passed away, peacefully, on July 2, 2022 at the age of 73.

She is survived by her husband Calvin Murray; son Ian Wood; stepson Derek Murray (Colleen Lee) and grandsons Evan and Chris Murray.

Drinda is predeceased by her mother and father, as well as, brother Darryl.

Drinda was a caring wife, daughter, mother, sister, and friend. Her long battle with cancer showed unwavering courage and love of life. She faced life’s challenges with a big smile and her own unique sense of humour. Drinda was an inspiration to all that met her.

Drinda was born to Frank and Marion Willie on June 1st, 1949. She went to Glenlawn Collegiate for high school and upon graduating attended NAIT to become a dental technician. After working many years in dentistry, she returned to school (Red River College) to become a registered nurse. A natural born caregiver, Drinda worked as a palliative care nurse until retirement. She was a tireless supporter of the nursing profession and the search for a cure to cancer. She advocated healthy living and loved making health shakes and “special concoctions” for meat and potatoes loving Cal, for over 35 years.

Drinda loved people. She had an engaging personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Within a few minutes of meeting her you felt like you had a friend for life.

Her family would like to thank her palliative care team, and the doctors, nurses and staff of Victoria General Hospital and Riverview Health Centre who made her last days comfortable.

A private funeral service will be held to honour Drinda.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba on her behalf.
