

On October 15th, surrounded by the love of her family, Edna Mae Douglas (nee Martin) left to begin her new journey in heaven. Born (March 27th, 1919) and raised in Winnipeg, Edna was the last surviving member of the Martin clan. She was predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother and her husband Robert (2006). Edna is survived by her daughter Lynda Unfried (Bruce), and her son Brian (Diane). Edna leaves 6 grandchildren to cherish her memory: Curtis (Leanne) Unfried, Christa (Steve) Unfried, Lee (Judy) Douglas, John (Evette), Shane (Veena), and Devon (Hayley) Hainsworth. Edna was especially proud of her great grandchildren; Nicholas, Arielle, Marissa, Karsten, JJ, Naiza, Shaye and Ayden. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.
Edna lived in Winnipeg, Calgary and Kelowna, returning to Winnipeg in 1999. She was active in her church and loved to sing in the choir. She was a long time member of Norwood Rebekah Lodge and was honoured for her work and dedication with the Degree of Chivalry, the Order’s highest honour. She loved to bake and prepare meals at work and at home and her hands were always busy sewing, knitting or crocheting.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of Lions Personal Care Centre for their excellent care and TLC during Mom’s 3 year stay at the home and especially during her last days.
A celebration of her life will be held at The United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street on Friday, October 18th at 1:00 pm.
