It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emelinda Esteban (nee Natividad) on November 26th, 2025, at the age of 74.
She is survived and missed dearly by her loving husband Isagani; and her three children Lester (Yenny), Lionel, and Leila (Logan); her two grandsons Ashton and Bennett, and her honorary granddaughter Jennifer; She will also be cherished and remembered by her surviving siblings Carmelita (Gerardo), Julieta (Ricardo), Yolanda (Rodolfo), and Roberto (Chris); as well as her many nieces, nephews and apos both in Canada and the Philippines.
Emelinda was predeceased by her father, Pedro, her mother, Manuela, and her siblings Reynaldo (Aurea), Dorotea, Remedios (Salvador), Aurora (Romeo), Marianita (Rolando), Manolito (Leonida), and Marilyn (Geraldo).
Emelinda was born on May 20th, 1951, in Hagonoy, Taguig, Philippines and lived there until she and Isagani moved to Canada in 1974. After over a decade of living in Saskatoon, SK, they finally settled in Winnipeg, MB in 1994. She was a dedicated Health Care Aide for her entire career in Canada, working with the Sharon Home at their original location on Magnus Avenue, and moving with them to the Saul and Claribel Simkin Center all the way to her retirement in 2020.
She wasn’t just a mom to her children and her grandchildren, she was a proud dog mom as well, as there wasn’t a puppy she didn’t like. She was especially inseparable from both of the family dogs, Gustavo and George Michael, always sharing stories of them with anyone she came across and showering them with treats, pets, hugs, and kisses whenever they were around.
Always up for a bite to eat, she could be considered one of the original Foodies, as she would always be open to trying out that new dining spot that just opened up, especially if they had noodles. She also loved to travel (despite what she would say), as she would always come back from a trip describing all the fun she had at her last destination and then ask you when you’d be free to go back so she could show you all the sights she saw.
Emelinda was a quiet and reserved person at first, until you got to know her. Then you’d be blessed with her true outgoing and spirited personality. She brought joy and laughs wherever she went (and maybe a touch of lighthearted mischief as well!). It was always a fun time when she was around, and all the laughter and warm smiles that she brought will be missed dearly.
To honor her wishes, there will be no viewing. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, December 5th, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Memorial Parish at 249 Arnold Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a small private gathering of family and close friends to be held at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, afterwards.
A special message to the staff at Grace Hospital: Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the compassion and care that you provided. I'm sure Nanay is especially grateful for everything you’ve done for her and the special bonds you each shared with her individually. Thank you from all of us.
