Emerick is predeceased by his wife Shirley, parents Leon and Rachel, brothers Charlie, Richard, George, and sister Alice.
Emerick was born and raised in Fort Garry and resided there until he moved to his summer home in Sandy Hook, MB in 1990.
Emerick worked as steamfitter apprentice as soon as he was released from the army in 1946. He joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters union in 1947 where he went on to be a 75-year member.
He worked mainly out of town, throughout Manitoba and Northern Ontario, installing heating systems and boilers for new Hospitals and Schools. He had two stints in Churchill and two years in Shiloh, the heating plant was largest installation he ever ran. In 1964 he had a rare in town job working at the new addition to St. Johns High School. In 1966, while looking for his next out of town adventure, the school division offered him an employment opportunity, they needed someone to maintain all this equipment. The school division had 80 buildings with two boilers in each building and guaranteed 40 hours per week, payday every second week, a pension plan and no more going out of town. He accepted and remained there until 1990 when he retired.
Celebration of life service will be held on November 23, 2022 at 2:00pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, Winnipeg, Manitoba
